How to Style a Global Table

A great table doesn't come from one matched set — it comes from layering pieces with real character, even when they come from different countries and traditions entirely. Here's how to build a table using Casa Duniya's range, piece by piece.

Start With a Base: Dinnerware

Pick one dinnerware line as your anchor — the plates and bowls that set the tone for everything else. Our Akleja and Tiri lines (hand-painted blue-and-white ceramic from Morocco) work as a classic, versatile base. For something bolder, our Azala line uses the same Moroccan technique in black and white.

Layer in Texture: Placemats & Napkins

This is where a table starts to feel considered rather than default. Our hand-beaded placemats from India add real dimension — thousands of individually placed glass beads catch the light differently than anything printed or woven by machine. For something lighter, our hand-embroidered napkins from Turkey add color without competing with your dinnerware.

Add Metalware Accents

Hand-hammered metalware brings warmth to a table in a way polished, machine-made flatware doesn't. Our Ruva line from India uses a technique where the metal is struck repeatedly by hand with a mallet, so the texture is never perfectly uniform — that's the actual signature of the technique, not an inconsistency.

Finish With Glassware

Hand-blown glass has natural variation in thickness and shape — no two pieces are ever quite identical, which is part of what makes a table feel handmade rather than store-bought. For something more colorful and casual, our Dhari glasses bring in bold, saturated color instead.

A Sample Table, Put Together

As a real starting point: Akleja Dinner Plates as your base, a Sundara Placemat underneath for texture, Cinija Napkins folded on top, Ruva Cutlery Set for flatware, and Bianca Water Glasses to finish. Four different countries — Morocco, India, India again, and hand-blown glass — brought together into one table that doesn't look like it came from a single matching set, because it didn't.
